A snowboarding camp is designed for the purpose of training and teaching snowboarders of different skill levels - from beginners to intermediate to advanced. Depending on the type of camp, your child may learn the basic skills in snowboarding such as balance, jumping, turning and carving. Advanced snowboarding camp on the other hand, focuses on the more complex skills of snowboarding such as halfpipe, slalom, giant slalom, freestyle and boardercross. The length of snowboarding camp differs, but it usually runs for a week. This type of camp accepts different age groups, usually from 10 to 18. Some camps may accept children from 7 to 8 years old, but they may be required to stay with their parents.
Highlights: In general, snowboard camps videotape their students' performance in snowboarding and provide insights on what should be done to improve their skills. At the end of the program, some camps may allow its students to get their own copies of their videotaped performances. Other camps may provide wristbands, T-shirts and prizes to students.
KidsCamps Tip: Parents should choose snowboarding camps that have their own private parks to maximize their child's training. It is advisable to enroll your child in a camp with a high number of skilled coaches, counselors and medical staff.
